Llandudno football event to support Lisa's cancer fight

A community in Llandudno is coming together for a special day of football and family fun in support of a much-loved local mum battling cancer.

A charity match and fun day will take place at Llandudno FC’s Go Goodwins Stadium on Sunday, April 26, raising funds for 35-year-old Lisa Eardley, a deputy headteacher at Ysgol Deganwy, who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer last year.

The event will see an Oldham Athletic XI take on a Welsh Leagues XI, managed by Bangor City 1876 assistant manager Sean Eardley – Lisa’s husband – in what promises to be an emotional and uplifting occasion.

Organised by football player and coach Mike Pearson, a close friend of the family, the day aims to bring together players, supporters and the wider community in a show of solidarity. Sean’s team will feature players he has coached over the years, while the Oldham side will include former teammates and friends, adding to the sense of unity behind the cause.

Alongside the match, families can expect a fun-filled day with activities designed to create a welcoming, community atmosphere and encourage as many people as possible to attend and support.

Funds raised will go directly to two charities that have supported Lisa throughout her treatment over the past seven months – the Alaw Ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd and Maggie’s Centre at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

Both services have played a vital role in Lisa’s care, providing specialist treatment and support to her and her family during an incredibly challenging time.

Llandudno FC has thrown its full support behind the event, highlighting the importance of community spirit and the power of football to bring people together for a meaningful cause.

Organisers say the day is not only about raising vital funds, but also about showing Lisa and her family they are not facing this journey alone.
