A new £1.98 million all-weather sports facility has officially opened at Ysgol y Creuddyn in Penrhyn Bay.
The development includes a full-size floodlit artificial grass pitch and a new changing pavilion, providing facilities for pupils as well as local clubs and community groups.
Conwy County Borough Council formally opened the facility today, Friday, September 11.
The pitch is designed to provide a reliable surface for sport and physical activity throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.
The new pavilion includes two changing rooms with showers and toilets, a separate changing area for match officials and accessible changing and shower facilities.
There is also a community room and kitchenette, an accessible toilet with external access and a dedicated area for spectators.
The development has also included landscaping around the site, with the aim of creating an accessible and welcoming space for those using the facilities.
During school hours, the pitch will be managed by Ysgol y Creuddyn for curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Outside school hours, Ffit Conwy will manage community bookings, allowing local clubs and organisations to make use of the pitch and pavilion.
The project has been funded through the Welsh Government's Community Focused Schools initiative, together with grants from the Cymru Football Foundation and Sport Wales.
Conwy's Cabinet Member for Education, Councillor Aaron Wynne, said the investment would improve access to sport and physical activity for pupils and the wider Penrhyn Bay community.
Welsh Government Education and Welsh Language Cabinet Minister Anna Brychan said schools could play an important role as community hubs, with the new facilities providing a space for people to come together outside school hours.
Aled Lewis, Director at the Cymru Football Foundation, said the new facility would provide improved experiences for players, coaches and spectators.
The project was delivered on behalf of Conwy County Borough Council by Alliance Leisure.
The new pitch and pavilion will now provide year-round sports and community facilities for Ysgol y Creuddyn and people living in the surrounding area.
